Charges for inbound and outbound voice services are assigned to one of three rates: Peak, Off-peak or Weekend. These are based on UK local time (i.e. GMT or GMT+1 when in summer time) which can be checked at any time using the TIME command from the API or clicking here. The bands are shown below:
The above times are shown to the minute but in practice seconds are to be considered to. The start time above is precise but where a time-slot is shown ending at X:59, that is actually X:59:59 with the next slow beginning one second later. IMPORTANT: Most carriers will charge the entire call at the rate applying when it starts. On that basis a call beginning at 17.59:59 would be charged at peak rates for the duration. Simwood does not apply this policy and instead rates each second of the call at the appropriate rate for the time-slot it falls into. Taking the example of a call commencing at 17.59.59, we would charge 1 second at peak rates and the remainder of the call at off-peak rates which will normally be substantially lower. Please keep this mind when calculating which route to use later on in the peak period if Simwood is not your first route for both peak and off-peak. |
